Helpdesk Checklist Level 2

PREREQUISITE: Helpdesk Checklist Level 1 When you have experienced all of the following tasks, then you have completed this level.

Dialup

  • Using an external modem and Ubuntu, configure and setup system to connect to the Internet
  • Using the MRTG graphs, dial into VCN when the lines are full
  • Using the helpdesk computer, step through the instructions for setting up a Windows XP connection
  • Using CAP computer, step through the instructions for setting up a Mac OS X connection
  • Look up Dialup Networking error numbers on google.ca

Email

  • Send & pickup email on Outlook, Pine, and Squirrelmail
  • Set up spam filter on Outlook, Pine, and Squirrelmail
  • Resolve an email relaying error
  • Resolve a request related to a blocked email account due to oversize inbox

Sympa mailing list

  • Create a list with the name test-xxx where xxx is your VCN username

Webpages

  • Using an FTP client, create a website on your VCN account
  • Make listing request to add your VCN website to the Community Index, using the name test-xxx where xxx is your VCN username
  • Attend a workshop on WebGUI
